Plating Chargehand (tankage) - Esso, Avonmouth

Contract Type: Fixed term until Feb 2026

Start Date: March 2025

Salary: £23.38 per hour

Key Responsibilites:

Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics.
Conduct regular maintenance and repairs on installed tanks.
Installation of ladders, staircases, walkways, and platforms as required.
Installation of reinforcing plates, stiffeners, and other support structures to enhance durability.
Work closely with welders, fitters, riggers, and engineers to meet project deadlines efficiently.
Load, unload, and position tank components using cranes, hoists, or other lifting equipment.
Ensure compliance with all safety protocols and industry standards.
Work at heights and in confined spaces as required.
Troubleshoot and resolve problems as they arise.
Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and evenings as needed.
Proven experience as a tank erector or in a similar role.
Communicate regularly with management teams to provide clear and frequent updates.
Adhere to all safety requirements, including safety checks of tools and equipment.

Key Requirements:

Welding / Tank experience essential
MEWP and Telehandlers licence (desirable training can be provided)
Considerable site experience, with experience at a refinery or similar establishment
Experience in a chargehand role
Approved Apprenticeship / NVQ Level 3
